The hackathon events provide an exceptional opportunity to come together with other talented coders in a challenge of international scope, sharing ideas and experimenting with the latest technologies and innovations.
The hackathon is open to those who have an interesting energy related project or other idea to develop within the scope of the solution areas proposed. You can participate in the hackathon in groups of minimum 3 and maximum 5 people. Participation in the hackathon is open to individuals aged 18 or older.
Participation is open to teams of 4 people and to individuals who will then be able to form teams at the event. Coding experience will be essential for at least one team member with a view to coding an app with the support of the ABB and Microsoft Azure specialists at the events.

Once you have entered your details and the details for your team, click Submit to send it to us for review. Due to limited space available, we will pick the 12 most relevant teams to receive an invitation to their selected event.
We recommend applying for the event closer to you to minimise your cost of participating. Select the location and theme which best represents your current thinking. You can change your theme at a later date if required.

A jury made up of ABB and Microsoft specialists will select winning teams based on the presented results from each team.
1st Place: Tickets to the Formula-E race the following day for each team member plus 250 local currency Amazon vouchers
2nd Place: 200 local currency Amazon vouchers per team member
3rd Place: 150 local currency Amazon vouchers per team member
Teams will be judged on three criteria: their concept, market applicability and execution.

Hotel accommodation is not provided. All Hackathon venues are located close to the Formula-E race tracks/venues, so if you wish to book a hotel, centre your search on those locations.

The safety and well-being of participants is our number-one priority. In light of the spread of coronavirus, we have therefore taken the following precautionary measures: Any participants who have been in China during the past 14 days are asked to contact the event team.
All delegates are asked to observe the hygiene recommendations issued by the WHO. There will be a number of hand disinfectant dispensers across the hackathon area. We will of course keep a very close eye on further developments and continuously evaluate them together with our team of experts, paying due consideration to the recommendations of the WHO.
